Rebecca Shoshensky is so excited to continue to be a part of Thornton Elementary School's staff in her new role as one of two Social Emotional Learning Specialists. Rebecca has worked with supporting students in schools for over 20 years in both Indiana where she is from and in Colorado. Rebecca has worked as a high school, middle school, and elementary school counselor. She has a Masters in Counseling from Indiana University and is very enthusiastic about supporting student learning and social emotional health. She is passionate about early intervention and is delighted about the opportunity to provide consistent whole class intervention for every student at Thornton Elementary School. Rebecca loves being in the classroom with your children and supporting them in learning the Second STEP curriculum which builds skills around bully prevention, learning, problem solving, empathy, and emotion management. Rebecca is excited about being one of two SELs at Thornton Elementary School. In addition to teaching some of the Second STEP curriculum, she will focus on the mental health and small group support of students as well as student mediations this coming school year. In addition, she will share the tasks of coaching teachers in supporting the whole child through Social Emotional training and support. Rebecca can also support with any 504 Plan questions you may have. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Rebecca has two daughters, a husband and two dogs.
