Mrs. McNeal loves teaching kids to read. As a Literacy Intervention Teachers she teaches kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students with supplemental reading instruction. She reads with 3 students per group for 30 minutes each with intensive, individualized reading instruction. She believes in partnering instruction with parents and classroom teachers to make the best growth with students.
She has taught 1st and 2nd grade for several years until she found her passion of teaching young kids to read. Mrs. McNeal loves to travel and has taught English in many grades around the world including Paraguay and Germany. She received her Elementary Education degree from George Fox University in Oregon and finished her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in Readng and Writing from the University of Colorado Denver in 2014. Growing up, Mrs. McNeal struggled as a reader and had amazing teachers and parents who worked alongside her to help her reach her dreams. She desires to be that inspiration to other young kids. She believes every child is smart and its the job of teachers to find the right pathway for each individual kid. Mrs. McNeal loves being apart of the Thornton community. Mrs. McNeal's husband is also a teacher and they have two little girls named Raya and Neva and a labordoodle named Sophie. When she is not at school she enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and playing with her family.
