Way to go Bobcats! Thornton Elementary was recognized by the Colorado Department of Education with the Center of Excellence Award! This award recognizes public schools in the state that enroll a student population of which at least 75 percent are at-risk pupils and that demonstrate the highest rates of student longitudinal growth, as measured by the Colorado Growth Model. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools have demonstrated impressive results on the indicator relating to longitudinal academic growth. Thank you to the Superintendent, Chris Gdowski, for stopping by to give us this award. But an even bigger thank you to our amazing staff for putting in the work day in and day out with our students making sure their needs are being met! |

Field day is coming! May 22nd ~ We are lucky enough to have a dental company donate 1 water bottle per student! I am hoping to deliver water bottles to classes by Friday May 19th. Students will have time to put their names on them, and then leave them at school for Monday’s Field Day. We will have water stations throughout the Stadium for refilling! Ms. Mac Teacher Appreciation Week - Monday May 8th kicks off the first day of Teacher and Staff Appreciation week. We are so thankful for everything that our Thornton Staff does for the students, families, and community and think that they are the BEST staff around! We want to thank Washington Plaza Dentistry, Gomez Burritos, Starbucks, and PTLT for helping us celebrate the staff with food and treats this week. We would also like to ask all of our Thornton families to help us by doing the following: Tuesday - Send an email or REMIND text to a teacher and/or staff member letting them know how much you appreciate their dedication to your student(s). Wednesday - Ask your student(s) to write their teacher and another staff member a note or draw them a picture to thank them for everything they do. Have them highlight one special reason why they are grateful for having them as a teacher or staff member at Thornton. Thursday - We will be having a “Special Sweet Treat” buffet bar in the lounge for the staff on Thursday. If you want to help us supply the sweet treats, families can send in a sealed/packaged bag or box of candy. Families can drop off packaged candies to the main office any day this week. |
