Principal Message

Dear Thornton Families,

We are excited to start another year of learning, growing and thriving for students and staff at Thornton Elementary.  We look forward to welcoming students back on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 18th.  Our priorities are student safety and academic success.  As we have done since the beginning of the pandemic, we will be following all of the guidelines laid out by the district for keeping students and staff safe and healthy.  This will include a focus on social emotional learning and students’ mental health.  We will work with classes, small groups and individual students to ensure a positive transition back into school.  Additionally, we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for all students at Thornton Elementary.  Our teachers are amazing educators who are committed to student academic success.

We value our partnership with our families and the community.  Throughout the year, you will receive important information from monthly school and classroom newsletters, emails, text messages, recorded messages and coming soon, our school Facebook page.  Please do not hesitate to contact us or stop by the school anytime.  My door is always open and I look forward to meeting you.

As I embark on my 1st full year as principal, I promise that your child will be treated with respect.  I will listen to you, and realize that you have the best interests of your children in mind. Children will learn from their mistakes and discipline will be based on love and learning. I will not give up on any child and I am committed to helping all children succeed.  I am very proud to be the principal at Thornton Elementary and I am looking forward to a fantastic school year. See you in person at Back to School Night on August 16th!
