5th graders Participate in Fitness Physiology Workshop

Thornton Elementary has partnered with Denver Museum of Nature and Science to have all 5th grade students participate in the Passport to Health Program (P2H). The program is a multifaceted hands-on health education program that includes school workshops, DMNS field trip, family museum days and a school-wide fitness festival. Today, student participated in a Human Body Systems workshop at Thornton. One of the activities consisted of students making comparisons between their resting heart rate and their active heart rate. They used stethoscopes to count and record the number of beats their heart made in 30 seconds.
