Important dates for the Universal Screening process at our school: All 2nd graders who are not already identified GT will be tested in September. If your 2nd grader is absent during testing, make up tests will be administered prior to October 4th. The test which all 2nd graders participate in is called the Naglieri General Abilities Test (NAGGEN).
Parent/Staff/Student GT Recommendation: Students of any grade level can participate in the GT identification process by submitting a nomination form and a complete body of evidence. Find more detailed information regarding the GT recommendation process in the Five Star District.
If you are interested in having your child be considered for the GT identification process, please fill out this Google Form (English/Spanish) or contact your GT Coordinator for school-specific information. Paper forms in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Dari and Russian are available in the front office at Thornton Elementary. Other languages are available upon request.
If you would like your student tested for GT identification during the 2025-26 school year, this form must be submitted no later than October 23, 2025.
