TES
My art curriculum is designed to teach students K-5 art production, art aesthetics, art criticism, and art history. Students will learn how to think about art, artists and cultures, and most importantly about thinking: how to think like an artist. Creative and critical thinking is at the heart of this curriculum. Using their 5 senses, students will be encouraged to identify their own art problems and find their own solutions through the use of the scientific method, writing, reflecting, collaborating, and experimenting. They will learn the nature of art and why artists use art as a medium for communication. They will learn that all art is made from an artist's experience, memory, and/or observatgion. As a result of this curriculum, students gain a sense of pride, self-esteem, and self-confidence that only comes through authentic art experiences that are meaningful to the individual student.
